ANNETTE HANSEN
Annette's been making art for as long as she can remember...
Annette was born in Denmark, and her family moved to Vermont when she was seven years old. She loves color and nature, and draws inspiration from both. She is largely self-taught, and enjoys exploring books about artists and art history. Making art gives her life a purpose that she cannot seem to find in any other way. In 2010 she started her business, Make Life Cozy, as a meaningful way to support her family through art and teaching. She loves to work and meet clients in her studio/shop in beautiful Shelburne, Vermont. Until 2015 Annette considered herself primarily a fiber artist, working with cloth and wool and paper and beads- making landscape “quilts” and needle- and wet-felted scenes and figures. She started painting seriously in April 2015 and absolutely loves it. Because she is sensitive to the chemicals and smells associated with oil paints, she paints with acrylics and watercolors. She loves to paint landscapes, and enjoys taking her own photographs to use as reference for studio work, although painting and sketching outdoors are the best!! Vermont is such a beautiful place, and Annette feels so fortunate to be surrounded by the scenery every day. She loves to capture the fleeting light of sunrise or sunset. Annette says she has succeeded if her art makes you see nature, and especially Vermont, the way she does.
